Repeat customers and word of mouth let us compete in places where advertising is too expensive. Q. Is singani a straight drink or should it be mixed?

A. The best quality singanis are excellent as straight drinks. Try our Singani Aniversario. Singani is also used frequently in mixed drinks. The most common use of singani in Bolivia is for a mixed drink called "chuflay" - a mix of one measure of singani, in a glass of lemon-lime soda with a twist of lemon.

Q. What does singani taste like? Is it similar to other familiar drinks?

A. Singani is somewhat similar to brandy. The difference lies in the kind of grapes used and that our product is aged in stainless steel tanks rather than in oak barrels. It has a strong fragrance from the grapes it is made from, although it is a dry spirit, and not at all sweet. Some compare it to Brandy or Cognac. We've had many rave reviews from Russians accustomed to drinılity vodka.

Q. Does singani better with age?

A. To a certain extent, although it isn't necessary for our customers to age their singani. Unlike wine, singani is not a drink that improves with age over the long term. Our singanis are aged four to six months in stainless steel tanks an in their bottles before they are sold in order to improve their taste, but after that, they don't tend to change much over time. Some of our products, such as Ginsengani, need to be aged to achieve a special taste or quality. In general, however, you can't assume an older singani is better. On the other hand, singanis don't spoil either.

Q. Is singani used in cooking?

A. Absolutely. Singani adds a touch of class to many baked goods. In Bolivia, small amounts of singani are often added to birthday cakes to give them a distinctive, subtle taste. Try a shot of singani in fruit compote, fruit sauces, and cakes. A visiting woman from Taiwan used singani in a chicken chow mein dish and liked it so much she took two bottles home with her. After you get the hang of how singani tastes in cooking and baked goods, we¹re sure you¹ll find many new uses!

Q. How can I distinguish between a good and a poor singani?

A. It has to do with the quality of the grapes. Each producer of singani has their own policy on what quality and type of grapes go into their singani. Our highest quality singanis are made from undamaged, Muscatel of Alexandria grapes from our own vineyards. Beyond the quality of the grapes, the fact that they all come from the same vineyard assures an even, consistent taste. After the grapes, quality comes down to commitment. How strict is your quality control? How selective are you in making your singani mixes? CASA REAL prides itself in providing the highest quality singanis through a mix of excellent grapes, world-class quality control, and a commitment to satisfying our customers.
